4 Best Beagle Rescues in the UK! (2023)

January 2, 2023 by Andy Lam

Beagle Rescues in the UK

Here’s what you should know if you’re searching for the best Beagle rescues in the UK. We all know and love Beagles, but sometimes they don’t have a loving home to go to. That’s where rescue centers come in. If you’re looking for a rescue dog, starting your search locally is best.

Many local shelters and animal charities in the United Kingdom have Beagles available for adoption, so check out their websites and social media accounts to learn more about each dog.

Most of these organizations also offer home visits before adoption, so they can make sure that both the dog and potential owners are a good match. This is especially important if you already have other pets at home or small children that need to get used to living with a new four-legged addition.

Before you scroll further down this list of Beagle rescues in the United Kingdom, you can check out these other dog-related recommendations from our team at We Love Doodles: Best Shih Tzu Rescues in the United Kingdom and Best Pomeranian Rescues in the United Kingdom.

If you are looking for a Beagle to adopt, here are the five best rescues you should check out in the United Kingdom.

1. Many Tears Animal Rescue

Many Tears Animal Rescue (BeagleUK)Many Tears Animal Rescue (MTAR) is located in Carmarthenshire, Wales, with many dogs living with foster parents across the UK. They are devoted to providing rescue and rehoming services for ex-breeding dogs who no longer have any use, those at risk of euthanasia from shelters, and those whose owners can no longer care for them.

They are an extraordinary rescue organization: most of their dogs were previously used as breeders and have never been exposed to the outside world. Their devoted staff, foster carers, and volunteers create a nurturing atmosphere that helps their puppies adapt to their new homes while providing them with the long-term love they deserve.

They are committed to connecting their rescue dogs with the best possible home through rigorous interviews of potential adopters and thorough vetting of their homes. Since they opened their doors, their organization has flourished — providing safe and loving homes for more than 3,000 dogs each year.

Their canine companions are all spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated, and de-wormed; however, they often care for dogs with more complex health needs. For example, they frequently encounter puppies who suffer from sight or cardiac issues and those struggling with liver shunts and joint problems.

Generous donations to the rescue allow them to guarantee that every puppy will receive any specialized treatments they may need. In 2004, Sylvia and Bill Van Atta purchased Cawdor Kennels in Carmarthenshire, Wales. Utilizing the existing kennel yard from the former owners, they established a rescue organization called Many Tears Animal Rescue.

Initially organized as a “Not For Profit Company,” by November 2020, it had officially become certified as an official charity. Sylvia and Bill have dedicated their lives to animal rescue, with Sylvia having set up multiple rescues in both the United Kingdom and the United States.

Bearing witness to heartbreaking scenes of animals suffering, it’s no wonder why their organization was named Many Tears Animal Rescue. Despite seeing some truly disheartening sights over the years, they continue to advocate for these voiceless creatures in need.

With its headquarters in Wales, Many Tears extends its reach beyond the UK and offers foster-based care for ex-breeding dogs, those from pounds, plus any puppies whose owners cannot keep them. Additionally, if space permits – they lend a helping hand abroad with rescues overseas.

2. Hope Rescue Center

Hope Rescue Center (BeagleUK)For over 15 years, Hope Rescue has been saving the lives of dogs who need a second chance due to no fault of their own. Unfortunately, these puppies are often strayed, neglected, or unwanted by society and have nowhere to turn for help.

At Hope Rescue, it’s their mission to take in all stray dogs from six South Welsh local authorities – Merthyr Tydfil, Blaenau Gwent, Torfaen, Rhondda Cynon Taf, and Bridgend as well as the western half of the Vale of Glamorgan.

They pledge to accept them regardless of age or breed type – even those with medical conditions that require special care. For pet owners facing difficulties and needing to rehome their dogs, they provide a secure way for them to have peace of mind that their beloved furry friends will be taken care of responsibly.

After 12 years of using boarding kennels and foster homes, they have finally achieved their dream – purchasing their rescue center in Llanharan, South Wales. Their sanctuary offers 51 rescue kennels, two outdoor play areas, an indoor training facility with a grooming room attached, and 18 acres of private woodland.

They are ecstatic to provide this haven for all rescued animals. Each year, they can help an estimated 800 dogs by rehoming them from their rescue center and collaborating with other rescues. Through these partnerships, they have been able to drastically expand the number of puppies that they are capable of helping.

You can contribute to their mission in several ways: by contributing financially, offering your time as a volunteer, shopping with them, or simply connecting with them on social media and spreading the word about their work. Every bit counts.

3. Alpet Poundies Rescue

Alpet Poundies Rescue (BeagleUK)As a small animal rescue in West Wales, they have been entrusted by Ceredigion County Council to be their go-to holding kennel for the helpless puppies that are found lost or abandoned. Their dogs are kept in their care for nine days.

If they remain unclaimed, they then offer to be rehomed or transferred to rescue kennels, where they can find their forever homes through adoption. A few of their staff have volunteered as foster parents to ensure that the dogs stay safe and sound while awaiting their new families until these doggies are adopted.

They make the difficult decision to put a dog down in only extraordinary situations, such as when it is too aggressive to rehome safely or if its health has deteriorated immensely. They understand that this choice should not be made lightly and strive never to have to make it.

But, unfortunately, in years past, they’ve had one canine euthanized simply because of extreme illness.  Although some of their furry friends stay with them for years until they find their forever home, and although veterinary bills can quickly add up to thousands – they will never stop fighting for them and always manage to make it work.

They’ve found homes forever for more than 400 puppies and hope to continue improving their lives by helping even more find loving families. They also make room for select private rehomes, such as when an older adult can no longer take care of their pet due to illness.

They strive to offer these animals the loving home that they deserve. To save them from an untimely death, we accept hand-ins and ex-breeders. Each case requiring help comes with a minimum donation to support the cost of care and upkeep. No one should experience the immense sorrow of losing a beloved pet.

That is why they urge you to microchip your dog and keep their details updated, so if it ever wanders away, there is still hope of being reunited with them. It is now mandatory to have your puppy microchipped and wear a collar in public places with your name and address on it. So do not forget this important law.

4. Dogs Trust Bridgend

Dogs Trust Bridgend (BeagleUK)For the past 130 years, they have been striving to create a brighter future for dogs and their caring owners. They take immense pride in delivering aid whenever a puppy needs assistance. When a puppy seeks a loving home, they match them with an ideal family that can provide for its needs.

And when humans need extra care or are overwhelmed by caring for their pets, their team stands ready to lend assistance and support. No matter the breed or their owner, they are devoted to being with them in every step of their journey.

The connection a puppy and its human share are invaluable; it alters lives for the better and fills each day with joy. This is why they firmly stand by this ideology—a dog will forever bless your life.

Over the years, their passionate and devoted staff and volunteers have made impressive accomplishments, such as altering legislation, expanding to other countries around the globe, and helping countless dogs and owners in need.

They have pledged never to euthanize a healthy dog, and this promise is the foundation of their company’s core values. Still, they strive to provide more than just sustaining life-saving efforts; their mission is to ensure all dogs live fulfilled lives with loving homes.

To have all dogs live fulfilled, secure and joyous lives, they understand that it will take a collective effort from humans – current dog owners or caretakers and future ones. Therefore, they want to rally people together so that every puppy is in an environment where it can thrive.

Here is an overview of their remarkable accomplishments in 2021:

  • They could lovingly provide care for 10,864 canine friends and place 8,550 dogs into their forever homes – including those who had been with them for six months or more.
  • Their devoted foster carers provided a home for 2,394 canines last year; 53 of these dogs found refuge through their Freedom Project.
  • To bring joy and happiness to more animals, we proudly opened our 21st rehoming center in the UK and Ireland.
